The DEP (Deutscher Entwicklerpreis) is the oldest award for outstanding computer games and has been presented since 2004. The award is organized by games.nrw e.V., which represents the interests of the digital games industry in North Rhine-Westphalia. The award is supported by the great commitment of the games industry. Numerous industry experts work on a voluntary basis in the juries. In addition, many companies support the award as partners and sponsors.
The prize will be awarded in 14 categories in 2023. Seven nominations went to Berlin-based studios:
- Studio of the Year: Paintbucket Games
- Best Casual Game: Thronefall by Grizzly Games
- Best Game Design: Ad Infinitum by Hekate
- Best Story: Ad Infinitum by Hekate
- Best Game Beyond Entertainment:
- Duru - Über Mulle und Depressionen by Twisted Ramble Games
- Friedrich Ebert – Der Weg zur Demokratie by Playing History
- Natur? Politisch by Tiny Crocodile Studios
The DEP will be awarded on December 7, 2023, in Cologne.
