GameCamp Berlin Communityabend

8 November 2019, 8:00 p.m.

Medientheater des Instituts für Musik- und Medienwissenschaft der HU Berlin

Games are an economically, culturally, socially and politically highly relevant and explosive, but also highly innovative medium.
The task of solid games research is to actively accompany and break down these developments.
In Germany, however, this is still behind in comparison to other countries such as Denmark or Finland, despite great and good efforts by individuals.

Against this background we will this year, in cooperation with Dr. Stefan Höltgen (Media Science Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) and Dr. Sebastian Möring (University of Potsdam / digarec), bring invited representatives from research, university teaching and business into a joint exchange within the framework of a focused workshop.

With them, we want to sound out possibilities for cooperation beyond the boundaries of disciplines. We want to reflect on the current state of German-language games research: How can we better network them? How can we promote a sustainable exchange with practitioners in this cultural field? How can we improve the conditions for researching games in Germany?

In the following discussion we need you and your experiences - we are looking forward to you coming by and taking part in the discussion!
Therefore we cordially invite you to an open community evening! This evening concludes the first part of our internal workshop at the same time. In addition to exciting discussion partners*, you will get an insight into the status of the discussions through short impulse lectures by the workshop participants*. We are looking forward to your input.
