t's that time again: gamescom, the world's largest event for computer and video games and Europe's leading games business platform, will open its doors from August 24 to 28, 2022. The fact that there will be a joint appearance for Berlin and Brandenburg for the ninth time for this event, organized by medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V. and sponsored by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, has been enthusiastically received by the participating companies.
Stephan Schwarz, Berlin Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises emphasizes, “The games scene is important for the capital region. At gamescom, the entire spectrum of the industry, which is growing rapidly in Berlin and Brandenburg, will be on display. Games startups from the fields of blockchain, development, data analytics, marketing, publishing and, for the first time, sustainability will be represented in the business area. This year, several indie developers will also be there to present their games to the international trade audience in the Indie Arena Booth. This powerful presence at gamescom is the best advertising for our capital region and GamesCapitalBerlin.”
In line with gamescom's efforts to create a sustainable trade fair, the medianet joint appearance of Berlin-Brandenburg will also be an example of the regenerative movement. gamescapital.berlin partnered up with co-exhibitor GamesForest.Club and founded the gamescapital.berlin Forest, a digital forest that will grow by the support off three forest conservation projects with the GamesForest.Pin. The pin offers companies an attractive opportunity to reward their employees and players, protect biodiversity and reduce their ecological footprint.
